How My Journey Began
Who knew a moderate interest in yearbook would lead me here?
I’m a Baltimore native who fell in love with words early and never looked back. I earned my bachelor’s in communications (with a journalism emphasis) from Susquehanna University — magna cum laude — and went on to earn a master’s in journalism from NYU’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute.
Since then, I’ve spent 15+ years in newsrooms, publishing houses, and media companies: Adventure Media & Events, Spine Media, Lebhar-Friedman Inc., Bloomsbury Children’s Books, REDBOOK Magazine, Baltimore City Paper, The Daily Item, The Green Magazine, and more. I’m currently a content strategist and editor at Fordham University, where I cover higher education, social justice, entrepreneurship, and the arts.
I know AP Style inside and out, I’ve built house style guides from scratch, and I’ve mentored junior editors and interns along the way. What I haven’t lost — no matter the beat or the deadline — is my commitment to making your writing the best version of itself without erasing your voice.

“Sierra is an absolutely incredible editor. Her attention to detail is completely unmatched. She knows AP Style like the back of her hand, and she was single-handedly responsible for developing and maintaining our house style, keeping all of our websites and magazines more consistent than they have ever been. She is trustworthy and independent, but also an outstanding team player. She is integral in establishing our office and community culture, always going above and beyond to make our days fun and engaging. She created and executed workshops for junior editors and interns, and was so truly invested in everyone's skill development. She made us all better editors. Plus, she's a skilled writer, designer, and an all-around gem of a human being. Sierra has a strong voice, a mastery of every journalistic skill in the book, and a kind and helpful nature. Simply put: she's a unicorn.”
