How My Journey Began

Who knew a moderate interest in yearbook would lead me here?

Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, I attended Susquehanna University from 2006-2010, graduating magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts in communications and an emphasis in journalism. Shortly after graduating, I moved to New York City to further my education. In 2012, I earned a master of arts in journalism from NYU’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute.

Currently an editor at Fordham University, I have worked at Adventure Media & Events, Spine Media, Lebhar-Friedman Inc., Bloomsbury Children’s Books, REDBOOK Magazine, Baltimore City Paper, The Daily Item, The Green Magazine, and more — sometimes writing and sometimes traveling, but always, always editing.

What People Are Saying

Sierra is my go-to grammar guru and hands down one of the best editors I know. Whether it's reviewing an article or providing thoughtful revisions to a book proposal, I feel confident knowing that my work will always be greatly improved thanks to Sierra's careful attention to detail and consummate professionalism.

EDITOR-IN-CHIEF, LTINTHECITY.COM

Sierra is an absolutely incredible editor. Her attention to detail is completely unmatched. She knows AP Style like the back of her hand, and she was single-handedly responsible for developing and maintaining our house style, keeping all of our websites and magazines more consistent than they have ever been. She is trustworthy and independent, but also an outstanding team player. She is integral in establishing our office and community culture, always going above and beyond to make our days fun and engaging. She created and executed workshops for junior editors and interns, and was so truly invested in everyone's skill development. She made us all better editors. Plus, she's a skilled writer, designer, and an all-around gem of a human being. Sierra has a strong voice, a mastery of every journalistic skill in the book, and a kind and helpful nature. Simply put: she's a unicorn.
